Our protocols live next to the hardware they were written for, in the electroPioreactor repository. Two of them are enrichment protocols, which is our word for the search: you sample somewhere promising, feed the sample little but hydrogen and CO₂ for a few rounds, and see which bacteria are still there at the end.
- Irvine River (Ayrshire): sampling, medium and enrichment for an AEP 0.1.1 with the MC02 medium as Edinburgh make it up. Five stages, from the first selection through serial transfer to confirming the culture really depends on the electrolysis.
- Crymlyn Fen (Swansea): a home version of the same five stages, with two medium options depending on what you can buy in small quantities, and notes on the ingredients that are awkward for home users. A living document; please tell us what happens when you try it.
